What Class Styles do you offer?
We have class styles ranging from deeply restorative to energising. You can learn more about our class styles HERE. Our timetable is designed to help you achieve the strength, balance, mobility, fitness, nervous system regulation, emotion regulation, and sense of embodiment and relaxation that provides you with the capacity to be with what life presents you, with confidence, ease and vitality.
Regardless of whether the class is energising or restful, our classes are trauma-informed, meaning the teacher provides invitations for movement rather than directives, allowing students to decide what feels best for their bodies in the moment. Language is empowering, emphasising choice and autonomy, and options are given. The focus is on building trust and safety, creating a non-judgmental environment where students feel respected. Ultimately, trauma-informed yoga is about fostering a sense of safety, empowerment, and healing through conscious teaching methods and language that respect each person’s unique journey.
What does Trauma-Informed mean at The Retreat?
A trauma-informed yoga studio is a space intentionally designed to make you feel safe, supported, and welcome. The atmosphere is warm, inclusive, and free of judgment, where students can practice at their own pace without feeling pressured or unsafe.
In a trauma-informed studio, the focus is on creating a sense of belonging and agency. Teachers use inclusive language, offer options, and emphasise choice. Whether the practice is gentle or dynamic, the studio aims to provide a space where people can reconnect with their bodies, heal, and build resilience, all while feeling supported and welcomed. Ultimately, trauma-informed yoga is about fostering a sense of safety, empowerment, and healing through conscious teaching methods and language that respect each person’s unique journey.
Where are you?

Is there public transport nearby?
Yes! very conveniently there is a bus stop directly outside the studio and a tram stop literally less than 1 minute walk away! see details: bus route, tram route.
Where do I park my car or my bike?
just a few steps away is a bike rack! parking for early morning and evening classes is simple, no restrictions and parking a plenty! during the day there is a 2 hour carpark less than 1 minute walk away at the intersection of Through Rd and Riversdale Rd and unlimited parking down riversdale road and neighbouring streets.
How warm is the room?
Although we have beautiful FRA-Infrared heating panels that produce sun like radiant warmth, we do not offer Hot Yoga. Our studio is kept at a comfortable temperature of around 20-24 degrees, and we build heat with our yoga practice. This FRA-Infrared heating heats the walls, ceilings and furnishings and not the air, making it great for asthma and allergy sufferers. We also utilise air-conditioners in Summer.
Do you offer yoga for children and teens?
We do not offer yoga for children, but Teens are welcome to join our regular classes (age 14 and over).
